"Earth Angel" Fisherman Sampler Afghan Project

Our Common Ground Worldwide "Earth Angel" volunteer knitters & crocheters are going to be working on the following project to create an afghan which will be on display & auctioned off as a fundraiser during "World Homeless Day"
Yarn:

Lion Brand Fisherman’s Wool #150 in Natural (#098) - 4ply worsted weight, 8 oz., 465 yards http://www.lionbrand.com/yarns/fisher.htm

(Note: Michael’s in SLO has 12 skeins of this available @ $8.99 each. On www.michaels.com there is a box that says 40% off coupon for signing up w/ them, so that would make your skein only $5.60. Apparently, it takes up to 36 hours for that coupon to arrive via email. Once Michael’s runs out of this yarn, it will be automatically re-ordered, which should take 1-2 weeks)

Needles:
#10 or smaller for knitting (similar sizing for crochet hooks)

Square size:
10” x 10”

Pattern:

 Be creative ~ this is going to be an amazing afghan!!!

 Beginners only ~ kindly use the following pattern:

Row 1: K1, P1

Row 2: Knit

Repeat those two rows for pattern

Super Stitches Knitting by Karen Hemingway has 300 stitch patterns & there are books on crocheting patterns as well (the library will be a great resource)

 The squares can either be knitted or crocheted

 Make 1-2 squares and kindly give the remainder of your yarn to Rev. Cynthia or Jane for binding & assembly

*All squares must be turned in no later than our September meeting*

Please Note: For those of you who cannot make it to our Free Classes for Beginners, I highly recommend YouTube instructional videos on "How to Knit" and "How to Crochet."  Here's an example:
